Rosebud 🥀

Most Monday mornings I swap my digital audio-visual tools for something much more analogue: trowels, loppers, and secateurs. Mondays are when I join a volunteer gardening team at a public garden in Nottingham to keep weeds at bay and roses pruned. It's a welcome break from screens, and our work is rewarded with coffee and cake at the end of the session. 🤗
Sometimes that back-to-nature time loops back into the digital world, though ... What else do you do with a bucket full of crunchy dead rose heads but make a quick ASMR video of it! I find I'm always on the lookout for interesting sights and sounds 😁
And, of course, once there's an ASMR video out there, on the Paintbrush ASMR YouTube channel, it's tempting to see if there's anything interesting there for halF unusuaL too ... A little like the month-long ASMayR celebration a couple of months back now, which was followed by Jamune over on the more experimental channel.
So, taking the same sound, I explored the visual elements of the ASMR bucket-of-roses through an audio-reactive TouchDesigner system, and ended up with today's upload.
For those following along, you'll know I've been exploring AI technology recently - as usual, looking for the edges and seams where it doesn't quite work as it 'should' ... I'm probably unusuaL in quite liking the odd extra arm here and there! 🤪
So, just as gardening is a break from the digital world, this rosebud exploration is, in its turn, a break from the AI world ... it's all connected, though, in unusuaL ways!
It turns out inspiration has a habit of composting itself; today’s weeds become tomorrow’s sounds, and today’s sounds become tomorrow’s images. ♻️
Thanks, as always, for watching and listening 🙏❤️
p.s. the image below is not AI ... it's a still frame from the TouchDesigner exploration of the bucketful of dead rose heads ...
